If you booked a South Beach hotel and it is not on Ocean Drive, odds are excellent it is on Collins.

Some have porte-cocheres directly on Collins; others tuck their entrances onto the numbered side streets to keep A1A moving; a few share valet ramps that back up fifteen cars deep at check-in time on Friday. The default route runs the MacArthur Causeway and up Collins; when an afternoon event chokes the lower beach, the Julia Tuttle Causeway and a southbound approach down Collins is often faster for hotels above Twentieth Street.
